A closer look at the route
Head for Jbel Toubkal (4,167m), the highest point in Morocco and North Africa — visible from Marrakech on a clear day, but reached only on foot. Over eight days, this trek combines immersion in the Berber villages of Imlil and Azzaden, the ascent to the high refuge and the summit climb at sunrise, rewarded with a 360° panorama across the entire High Atlas that, on a clear morning, reaches to the gates of the Sahara.
Allow 4–6 hours of walking per day. No technical climbing skills are required, but good physical fitness and a willingness to leave the refuge before dawn on summit day are essential. The pace is adapted to your group for a safe and enjoyable ascent, descending through the beautiful Imlil valley before the journey continues south to the roses and gorges of the second half.

Marrakech → Imlil → Dar Mazik

Imlil → Azzaden Valley
Trek through the spectacular Azzaden Valley — walnut groves, Berber hamlets untouched by roads, and sweeping mountain views. Overnight in a local gîte.
Azzaden → Toubkal Refuge
Progressive ascent through high pastures and the sanctuary of Sidi Chamharouch. Arrival at the refuge (3,207m) in the afternoon, rest and preparation for the summit. Overnight in the refuge.
Summit of Toubkal (4,167m)
Early departure before dawn to reach the summit at sunrise, with views over the col of Tizi n'Ouagane and, on clear days, to the Sahara. Long descent back towards Imlil.
Valley of Roses & Dadès Gorges
Drive to the Valley of Roses (Kelaat M'Gouna) — rose gardens, kasbahs and cooperative distilleries — then on to the spectacular red walls of the Dadès Gorges. Overnight in gîte.
Todra Gorges → Marrakech
Morning walk through the Todra Gorges, dramatic 300m cliff walls. Lunch in the palm grove, then drive back to Marrakech.
